In Candice’s profession, it isn’t unusual to receive more hate mail than positive ones, so she always delights hearing from anyone who enjoys the coverage she provides.

Over her three years covering high school hockey in the county, she has received many heartfelt pieces of gratitude from parents, coaches and players, which have meant the world to her. Below are some of those comments that she has hanging at her desk as daily reminders of the payoff after countless hours of writing, editing and freezing nights in the rink.

“You’re the absolute best and your work is so incredibly appreciated. Keep the reporting coming.”

-Dave Dorman, head coach, Malvern Prep

“You are a good photographer. Having photos to look at helps me see what I am doing wrong and also helps me learn to correct those things.”

-Madison Ambler, goaltender, Lansdale Catholic

“I just wanted to say thank you for your coverage of the High School Hockey Season. The Great Valley Board met last week and we all commented on your excellent coverage of the season, news articles/interviews, tweets, ChesCo Hockey Haven (a great site) and especially your coverage of Great Valley’s last couple of games. We have worked hard to be more competitive and the players made a statement this year. Thank you for capturing that … You have a great writing style that captures the great points of every game with great pics and interviews.”

-Gerry Christian, president of the Great Valley Ice Hockey Club

You have a lot of dedication to the sport and your job. Everyone appreciates that. Great work!”

-Scott DiRico, head coach, West Chester Henderson

“We appreciate everything you do.”

-John Breznicky, defenseman, West Chester Bayard Rustin

“Please don’t think it goes unnoticed. Please don’t think that we are not grateful. Please don’t think that it isn’t worth the time and effort … You have provided the whole area with a record of what happened this season that will last longer than most players/coaches’ memories. You have been kind, caring and dedicated to hockey in this area and we all owe you a very large thank you. At the end of the day, only a handful of all the lives that you have touched this season will reach out to you … It’s not every year that you get to shock the hockey community. It is even more special when it is documented. Thank you again for everything you do and for the coverage that you provided for my program, both the boys and girls.”

-Dave Hendricks, head coach, Downingtown East
